Uta: My intergenerational song

About this Artwork

With creativity and love, this mixed media art collage includes the only photo of my mother’s mother, Uta, in the field with child peeking from behind her shoulder ( my mom!) My mother’s mother, Uta, died when Mom was 13, then Mom youngest in family, with sisters, brothers, and dad were forced into Japanese Incarceration Camp. They worked the fields before, during, and after the incarceration times to get food and freedom. When Mom gave birth to me and named me Uta. I carry forward our song. This art is dedicated to Uta, my mom Emi, and all the women who came before us, seeding, growing, and giving us sustenance to live and love onward.
